Thomas Malcolm "Tommy" Pickles is the main protagonist as well as the center character of Nickelodeon's animated TV series Rugrats (and all films except Rugrats In Paris: The Movie in which he is a supporting character) and its spin-off All Grown Up!. He is clad in only a T-shirt and a diaper and is bald with big, blank eyes. He translates everything adult into baby gibberish, like most babies. He is the main character in Babysmurfrock's Series as it centers around him and the things he faces in everyday life as a two year old

Description

Tommy is always ready for adventure with courage to spare. Sometimes he leads the babies into trouble (usually as a result of one of Angelica's lies), but he always manages to lead them back out again. He is a loyal friend and always ready for action. Tommy is the best friend of Chuckie, who is the exact opposite of him. And he has a younger brother named Dil who often gets in the way, but Tommy still loves him and is very protective of him.

Very early in the beginning of the Terrible Twos series, Tommy takes on potty training, not long after his second birthday passes, to the best of his ability hitting several roadblocks (accidents) along the way. Luckily with the encouragement of Chuckie and little brother Dil he successfully manages to finally make it to the potty.

After an incident on a fishing trip to the lake with his Grandpa, Lou, Tommy ends up fearing water to the point of passing out in sight of it while at the pool. Poor Tommy ends up injured, leaving him with a concussion induced amnesia causing him to forget half the group and leaving him acting like Dil did in his younger days. With his friends' help he regains his memories though the fear of water still lingered. In the end, Tommy ended up helping a panicking Chuckie who happened to get his swim trunks stuck in a pool filter which, while not completely stopping his fear, at least allowed him to enjoy playing in the water with his friends again. Just as long as he wasn't under the water he was fine.

In the Tommy Talks episode, he ends up saying his first word: Reptar to his grandparents. However due to the event of him having a tantrum following after not getting Reptar cereal, Tommy fears that by him talking, Reptar would disappear forever. This results in him keeping silent about anything Reptar until he can't handle it anymore. Luckily, he quickly learns that not only are his parents proud of him for starting to talk but that Reptar wasn't going to disappear after all.

He sustains another major injury in Tommy Breaks a Leg as he's accidentally hit by a car which leads to a long boring recovery for a two year old. He recovers after a few weeks and an incident that resulted in a longer recovery time. Following after, Tommy dyes his hair blonde no longer wanting the attention of having purple hair similar to the situation Chuckie had a while back.

Tommy later learns how to ride a bicycle in Tommy's First Bike. He also meets Savannah Green and her parents for the first time in Green Pickles. He helps in the search for Savannah's missing birthday presents hidden by Angelica at Savannah's birthday party. Going to the library, he, Dil, and Savannah all get their very first library cards.

In Another Family Reunion, Tommy reunites with his cousins and even gets to meet Timmy-Ray's new little sister, Jill, as Tommy introduces DIl to Timmy-Ray and Jill. On the day of the family reunion he and his other cousins all go to look for Tony who had seemingly gone missing. Fortunately they did find Tony only to learn that he had a bad cold. In the next following days, Tommy winds up catching the same cold Tony had leaving him sick and miserable. He is picked up early from Chuckie's place leaving the others, with the exception of Dil, thinking that Tommy had actually disappeared.

After Tommy gets better, he and his family all take a trip to visit Ben and Elaine seeing as Elaine's friend needs a replacement ring bearer and Tommy is the perfect fit. He and Dil also learn that Elaine is pregnant and in an attempt to remove the baby from her stomach had Dil accidentally cause her a miscarriage. At the hospital, Tommy and Dil of course go through the effort to make Elaine feel better by going off to find a balloon for her.

In Goin' Nakey, upon returning home from their aunt and uncles', Tommy gets upset with Dil who was going through his brief shedding of clothing stage due to Dil accidentally peeing on Tommy's Reptar doll. They later make amends and of course Dil learned the importance of his clothes. Later on, Stu takes Tommy, Dil, and their friends to the post office due to having to pick up a package. Trying to help out his father, Tommy and his friend go off to look for Stu's package. Unfortunately, this results with them not only getting locked in the post office for the evening but, in attempt to save Dil and Savannah, wind up in the dead letter office portion of the post office. After playing around for a bit, Tommy leads the gang out of the dead letter office and out a loading bay to get back to Stu's car.

Upon finding out that Savannah's going to be a big sister, Tommy gives some advice and shows off his pocket watch and even teaches Savannah the lullaby he sang to Dil a year ago out in the forest.

On a trip to the beach, Tommy ends up meeting Lily's older brother, Lincoln as he reads Ace Savvy comics with Lincoln for a while until lunch time. However, at lunch, he takes on the role of Ace Savvy with Savannah as One-eyed Jill (Jack) to try and find out why Dil was acting weird and only want to play with Lily. He soon realizes from the similar experience with Chuckie way back with Emma and Megan that Dil was just experiencing the same feelings towards Lily. Being too late to stop what was happening however, Tommy watches as Savannah goes through a brief moment of jealously and goes back to the table with Dil. Later on, he and Savannah (after learning from Susie that Dil was just in love with Lily) help Dil prepare to spend the day with Lily at the playground. In the end, after two weeks of meeting Lily, Tommy gives Lily some advice about what to do about not wanting to go to preschool in which he mentions that maybe if Lily showed she wasn't potty trained they'd let her stay home.

After a visit to the doctor, Tommy winds up getting the flu after his flu shot leaving him with the usual flu symptoms that left him bedridden. He keeps getting bothered by Dil during his recovery time, due to Dil thinking he was an alien, as he's trying to sleep and gets a flashlight shined in his face. Tommy is later again bothered by Dil and Savannah, who startled him out of his sleep in which he has an accident due to a sneezing fit. In the evening, after Dil has a nightmare, Tommy gets up to comfort his brother, reassuring Dil that once he's better they could play again.

During Dil's crisis of having to drink a different kind of milk due to lactose intolerance, Tommy has his own crisis of wanting to drink from a bottle again. He winds up tricking the others to look away and tries to take Samayah's bottle. He then gets upset with Dil for essentially doing the same by taking his sippy cup and later stealing ice cream from his bowl. After having a nightmare during his nap of turning back into a little baby, Tommy comes to terms with being a big boy and wants to stick to using his cup. He also realize that his brother was also going through a big change and explained to him about changes and how while not all are bad, some you'd just have to live with.

When Dil is blamed for biting through other kids' binkies, Tommy struggles to believe his brother due to knowing that Dil wasn't the most well behaved and that Dil was also teething to the point of being able to chew through his own binky at the time. After a bit of convincing, Tommy attempts to help his brother escape from the handcuffs that Timmy McNulty put Dil in. However, after struggling to get the lock to open, Tommy notices Tanner McNulty running around in the background. Finding it suspicious, Tommy goes off to investigate only to find out Tanner was actually the one biting through the binkies, not Dil. Finally catching up with Tanner, he showed everyone that Tanner was the guilty one and not Dil.

Tommy dresses up in a Reptar costume for Halloween. He also leads the babies into the McNulty haunted house to find a bandage for Angelica after Tanner bites Angelica's hand.

When Dil gets his first cut, Tommy suddenly goes into overprotective mode, not allowing Dil to run around or play like normal in fear that he'd get hurt again. He gets upset when Dil and Savannah sneak off to play on their own at the playground. Later he goes off to Chuckie and Kimi's for a sleepover, in which he tries to prove to the Finsters' that he's not feeling well. Of course, when all his attempts fail, he eventually has a talk with Chuckie who reminds him that he doesn't have to be so overprotective. In the end, Tommy apologizes to Dil and tells him and Savannah that not only do cuts heal but tells them of the first time he got his cut.

On an evening of Dil yet again fighting bath time, Tommy becomes determined to show Dil that there was nothing to fear of bath time. However, while trying to show Dil that the toys weren't alive, he ends up slipping and falling into the bathtub. Tommy confronts Dil before the next bath time for hiding the bath toys away underneath the sink. Upon getting in the bath, Tommy shows Dil that a sponge isn't alive and neither are the toys in which he finally proves to his brother that there's nothing to fear as they begun enjoying their bath together.

After taking Dil's teething ring for an adventure one morning, he and Dil end up getting in an argument resulting in Tommy falling over in the playpen. After getting separated by their parents for the day, Tommy goes with Stu to the department mall, Home Heaven, as he gets to see various Goober toys in which he wanted to show to Dil but couldn't along with not being able to tell Dil about the first trip he took to the location. Later, Stu takes him to the movies, in which, again, Tommy sees a Goober trailer and was upset that Dil couldn't be there to see it. Both brother's later reunite and apologize to each other.

During a trip to the mountains to celebrate Christmas, Tommy and his friends sing various Christmas carols on their way and during their time at the cabin they stayed in. By Christmas morning, while opening presents, he and the other babies all break out into one last song of Jingle Bells. While singing the adults of the two to three year old's are now able to partial understand their children's singing though it comes out as "Jingly Bells". Sometime after Christmas, Tommy and his friends are brought to the snow covered park to play where they run into the McNulty brothers after their youngest brother, Tanner almost crashes into the group. Soon the group is now participating in their own version of the Winter Olympics as Tommy is paired up with his brother to compete. Both managed through the rounds and make it to the final round where Tommy takes the running portion of the race.

The day following their whole competition in the park, Tommy ends up catching a stomach bug that Kimi also had. This results in him having uncontrollable accidents that make him think he's turning back into a baby baby. He even dreams of himself as one and his brother and friends try to give him an "itchynation" to help him grow up again. Even after each test resulted seemed successful, Tommy still woke up to having accidents or throwing up which reached a point to where Didi had to place training pants on him to reduce the accidents until he was over his stomach bug. However, being put in training pants only convinced him further that he was turning into a baby baby. Luckily, he passes the final test in his dream and is soon woken up by the yells of his brother and friends at his bedside. He immediately thanks them for helping with the "itchynation", leaving the group confused as they explain to him what had really happened and how he had a stomach bug. Tommy also later explains what an "itchynation" is to Dil and Savannah and tells Savannah that while they don't have to worry about it at the moment, her sister will have one too.

On the same day, while the babies finished having their lunch, Tommy's uncle, Drew, stops by to drop off a box of Angelica's old toys that she has outgrown, hoping Tommy and his friend would find more use out of them. Tommy ends up taking the doctors kit as he ends up taking a doll as his first patient while he rolls the stroller to his "office" much to his father's dismay. Later, Angelica, after being picked up by Stu, hides her old toys from the babies while they napped and even tried to convince Tommy and the others that the toys had run away to go back to her house. He didn't know if Angelica was telling the truth but either way he knew they were going outside in the backyard looking for the toys. Tommy quickly discovers the toys buried in the sandbox as he ushers the others over to help dig them out. By the time Tommy and the others got the toys out of the wet and dirty sand, they were found by Didi who wondered how they got out in the first place. Luckily the situation was very clearly Angelica's doing and Chuckie and Kimi cleared it up. Following getting the toys cleaned, Tommy and the others got to happily play while Angelica had to watch them from timeout.

After a couple days, Savannah arrives over at Tommy and Dil's house where they learn from her that due to her just sitting on the training potty at her home out of curiosity, her mom thinks she's ready for potty training. This leads to Tommy giving his own advice from experience while also telling his own experience with potty training as a whole.

Looks

In the first series, Tommy is only a 0-2 year old baby toddler. He has a large, bald head with a few hairs on it, and large, round eyes, with a thin neck, round ears, and a bit of a belly on him. Tommy's outfit consists of a sky-blue shirt that shows his belly-button, and a white, baggy, diaper with yellow straps on it. He walks around barefoot and seems to be a bit pigeon-toed as both of his feet face inwards.

In the Tommy Pickles: The Terrible Twos, Tommy is a two year old toddler. He is growing purple hair like his father, and large, round eyes, with a thin neck, round eyes, and still a bit of belly on him. Tommy's outfit consists of a yellow shirt and blue overalls with a pocket on the front, later then changed to just a yellow shirt and blue shorts. He walks around with brown shoes and still seems to be a bit pigeon-toed as both of his feet still face inwards

Personality

Just like his cartoon counterpart

Tommy is best known for his bravery and adventure-seeking attitude. He is very playful and will do anything to have an adventure. Tommy is also very loving and protective towards his friends, especially his younger brother, Dil Pickles. He is very caring and kind-hearted, and will never let his friends down. Tommy is extremely brave and is very rarely seen afraid of anything, only on a few small occasions. Tommy checks the popcorn booth at the movies.

He is also shown to be a natural leader and is looked up to by the other babies, coming up with the most ideas to get his friends and himself out of trouble. However, Tommy does have his faults, he can be a little short-tempered at times, and sometimes he can act stubborn and even a little smug if he lets his older cousin Angelica influence him, and he can be rather naïve at times. Overall, Tommy is brave, adventurous, selfless, and caring.
